We looked out our window and saw our neighbor's grandson cooling off in a cooler. This park doesn't have a swimming pool and it has been in the 90s. Clever solution and it made us smile.
We decided to go to lunch on Friday. We got to I-5 before 2 pm and traffic was backed up a couple of miles and not moving. We turned around and took Marine Drive to the Parkrose neighborhood where Penny worked. We went to a funky bar where Penny and fellow workers sometime ate. This photo of the Wooden Chicken isn't very good, but gives you an idea of what it is like. Penny hadn't been there in six years. The same waitress was there.
This is Marine Drive on our way back home about 3:30 pm. Our traffic app said that there had been a 4-car crash on the I-5 bridge at 1:43 pm. By 3:30 pm, those who weren't moving north on I-5 dumped onto Marine Drive so that they could get to I-205 and get across the Columbia River. We had also seen the entrance to I-205. These cars were going to be a VERY long time getting there.
We love this 4th of July flower display at Fred Meyer in Vancouver, WA.
Sunday morning, we took our son and grandson to brunch at a fabulous restaurant in downtown Portland; Mother's Bistro. We were told that we had an hour wait, so we walked to Pioneer Square, where Brent and Tyler had their first Moonstruck Chocolates. Along the way, we passed the famous food cards. Many weren't open yet.
As we stood outside the restaurant, waiting for the text that our table was ready, we noticed this building. Right on the front it is labeled "Bishop's House". There is a restaurant on the first floor and offices above now. It turns out that it was the home of the first Archbishop of Portland and is on the National Historical Register.
