We are finally on our way East on I-10.
Quartzsite, AZ is a popular stop for RVers. At the height of winter, there are wall to wall RVs and they are dry camping. From what we hear, the attraction is the huge flea market and the camaraderie.
There is a truck pulling this panel truck. The first vehicle has two vehicles piggy-backed on the flat bed. I was so busy taking photos I didn't check license plates. They must be headed to Mexico. The exit to Yuma, AZ and the border was just ahead.
It was an uneventful drive to Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort, El Mirage, AZ, near Glendale. Our friends Steve and Jenny make this home for a couple of months each year. The sites are not as luxurious as Emerald Desert RV Resort in Palm Desert, but the park is huge with MANY activities and amenities. The wood shop got Ted's attention.
For $10 a person, we watched a preseason game between the Cubs and Rangers. Having grown up with the Cubs, I was very happy, even if they are in the building stage. This line-up display seemed a big low tech for such a new stadium.
Steve says that the stadium is almost a replica of the Ranger stadium in Texas. It is beautiful.
Prince Fielder was the only name I recognized, but I might enjoy baseball more after seeing this game.
We sat under the scoreboard on the grass with lots of others. Would have been great if the night hadn't been unexpectedly chilly.
As we were leaving, we noticed Willy Wilson (Woo Woo), former Royals/As/Cubs outfielder and Hall of Famer, signing autographs.
The home of the Arizona Cardinal football team was near-by. They have a large selection of restaurants, including Jimmy Buffets and The Yard House, just like other professional team venues.
One evening we enjoyed a car show and 50s music there before dinner.
Friends Vicki and Jon have a home in Sun City West, which was 15 min. from us. They had us over and gave us the million dollar tour of Sun City West. Their home is wonderful and the activities and amenities of Sun City West were over the top. Here is the model railroad run by residents. The weaving shop got my attention, but we both saw many classes and interests that we would enjoy.
